KinderGym Virtual Lesson – Teddy Bear

We all know Teddy Bears love to go adventures so it’s time to get your favourite teddy bear and get ready for some fun.

You and your child and of course Teddy, will explore so many fun movements, like locomotion, rotation, spring and balance to name a few. Watch and assist your child gain confidence in their gross motor skills that strengthen the body and assist with coordination.
Finally we finish the session with a good old teddy bear picnic. Set up the rug and settle in for some imaginary play that will encourage language development, turn taking and sharing. This is so important for your child’s social development and can assist in avoiding meltdowns and tantrums with siblings and new friends.

SAFETY FIRST
– Modifications can be made to suit your child’s age and ability for example your U2’s who aren’t jumping independently can be assisted under the armpits lifting in the air and gently landing feet on floor or holding two hands to assist in balance and take off.
– Make sure you clear the area of objects and make a safe space to practice your activities together.
– Parent supervision required

You can watch our class all the way through or pause between and do the activity together for longer.

We hope you enjoy what we have prepared for you and look forward to you sharing the fun by tagging us on social media!

KinderGym Virtual Lesson – Kangaroo

It’s time to spring into action with our Kangaroo theme this week.

Let’s explore variations of Spring and Landings with your child today and get a good cardio workout along the way. Not only is jumping a great way to express our emotions and excitement, it strengthens our muscles, bones and cardio fitness.
We can make unspoken connections with other children when we see them jump and mirror them too and last of all brain development is largely enhanced by doing whole body activity of these kinds of movements.

SAFETY FIRST
– Modifications can be made to suit your child’s age and ability for example your U2’s who aren’t jumping independently can be assisted under the armpits lifting in the air and gently landing feet on floor or holding two hands to assist in balance and take off.
– Hopping activities are suited to our 3-4yo ages assisted or on their own.

It’s time to get your cheeky monkeys up and moving with our wonderful Monkey theme this week.

We know our PenGym monkey’s love to hang and swing in the gym, however that’s not all monkeys do and we are about to explore some more fun movements.

This lesson will teach your monkey’s how to travel through the jungle with various locomotive movements, we will engage their vestibular system with monkey rolls, challenge their balance and body awareness, develop grip strength and activate their core; which is super important for school readiness.

SAFETY FIRST
– Modifications can be made to suit your child’s age and ability for example your U2’s who aren’t jumping independently can be assisted under the armpits or holding two hands.

KinderGym Virtual Lesson – Easter Theme

Let’s kick start your child’s movement for the week with some KinderGym Easter Fun.

This lesson is full of surprises and will challenge your child’s hand eye coordination and balance, get the heart pumping with lot’s of spring and locomotion activities and last but not least activate their vestibular system with our fun rotation activities of the day.

Our beautiful warm up song today is by Robyn Crow and Kate Hanratty who produce wonderful children’s music that you will hear in our weekly classes a lot. This song is from the “Moving to Learn” album. Our cool down song will get you giggling to finish up the session today and this is from another wonderful album called “Swing This Way” by Janet Channon and Wendy Jensen from Kids Music Company. I highly recommend you check both these albums out. They provide endless educational music for your children.

Modifications can be made to suit your child’s age and ability for example your U2’s can replace bunny hops with squatting small like a bunny and wiggling your bunny ears instead. Galloping and skipping can be replaced with holding grown up’s hands and walking around in a circle, or spinning. Your child will usually modify their movements on their own and this is great to see how they problem solve for themselves.

As safety first is our number one value; make sure you clear the area of objects and make a safe space to practice your activities together. You can watch our class all the way through or pause between and do the activity together for longer. We hope you enjoy what we have prepared for you and look forward to you sharing the fun by tagging us on social media
