Frequently Asked Questions
We understand there can be lots of questions in Gymnastics, so here are a few we've heard before

What should I wear to my lesson?

In most instances comfortable sporting attire is appropriate i.e. leggings/shorts and a tight fitting T-shirt or singlet, or participants may wear a leotard if they wish. Remember our classes involve lots of dynamic movement, rolling and going upside down. Tight fitting clothing will ensure you don’t get caught up or have your vision impeded. We do ask that you wear attire free of buckles, zips, belts, skirts, dresses, bracelets, necklaces, rings. Bare feet is also necessary in our classes so that you can feel the surfaces under your feet and you are getting appropriate sensory feedback. It also protects our fantastic equipment. Some performance / competitive groups may require uniforms and/or leotards for training. Reference is made to this alongside class descriptions on the website but will also be communicated directly via email to the families involved.

What should I bring?

Please ensure that participants bring a drink bottle to every lesson labelled with their name. Hair should be pulled neatly and securely away from the face so that it stays up for the entire class.

Please leave valuable articles at home, including but not limited to, jewellery, mobile phones, electronic tablets and anything that is special to you, as we cannot be responsible for these items during class time.

Are your coaches qualified?

Yes! All of our coaches are nationally accredited with Recreational Gymnastics Australia and/or Gymnastics Australia. These qualifications require an ongoing commitment to learning and education with a minimum of professional updating required annually.

Can I stay and watch my child?

We understand that new environments can feel daunting initially. You are welcome to accompany and watch your child’s class from the customer lounge area. When you and your child feel comfortable within our facility you are welcome to drop and go for the duration of their class in our school age programs. Please make sure you escort them to and from the entrance and exits of the building.

What if my child is reluctant to join in?

New environments can be daunting even to the most confident of individuals. Our staff will do everything they can to ensure that you feel nurtured and supported through your first experience in the gym, while you find your feet and explore our fun equipment. Some participants may spend the first class taking it all in and observing the comings and goings before feeling confident to show their personalities. This is part of the reason we offer our 14 day new member guarantee. Come to more than one lesson before you make any decision on your continued enrolment. We know Peninsula Gymnastics has something to offer you.

Can I join mid year?

Yes! You can join any time there are availabilities in the class. Head to our Customer Portal  to book a trial or call and speak to our Customer Service Team to work out a time that suits you.

What is the new member 14 day money back guarantee?

We know Peninsula Gymnastics has something to offer you! For the cost of just one class we offer your first lesson as a no obligation trial before becoming a member. We are so confident that you will love your experience with us and your tuition, that should you wish to cancel your membership within 14 days of your first lesson we will issue a full refund inclusive of trial class, registration and any tuition payment.

Can I do a make-up lesson?

We understand that things come up and you may miss a class every now and then, through illness, specialist appointments, school camps etc. That’s why we offer make up tokens. Simply notify us through the Customer Portal or  let the Customer Service Team know that you are going to be absent prior to the class and they will assist you with booking a make up where there is availability within your program. In some specialist classes we do not have the ability to offer make up sessions, as they do not have a duplicate class in the schedule. This includes the GymLeague, Trampoline and Tumbling and Adults classes. No refunds will be issued for sessions that are missed in these classes. Please see visit here on the website for further details regarding the make up service.

What happens if we have booked a holiday, can we pause our enrolment?

We like to be agile and flexible, so to complement this we are also giving every member the ability to PAUSE their child’s enrolment for up to 2 weeks during the calendar year.

Know you are going away? School camp?… You can put your child’s spot on hold for either one week at a time on two separate occasions, or you can pause for a fortnight in one go, with the guarantee that your child will have their spot to return to! We will then apply a credit to your account for that period. Please note we will require a minimum of one week’s notice to implement the pause on your child’s enrolment. This new feature will also provide further opportunity for members to book make-up classes.
